Working with this generic, java-based applet will help you develop your own intuition with respect to desiccant wheel performance [Go to Estimator]

We've assembled lists of desiccant-related publications produced by ASHRAE and by other cooperating technical organizations. Most are available for purchase through the ASHRAE Online bookstore.

Desiccant Materials
Publications on this list describe the fundamental behavior of desiccants and sorbent materials. If you want to understand the basic physics of sorption, why certain materials might be used for certain applications and not for others, or what sorbents can collect other than moisture, these publications may be helpful.

Desiccant Equipment and Components
These publications are useful when you want to understand how desiccant equipment behaves, and why. In addition to books and papers, we've posted an interactive desiccant wheel performance estimator. Working with this generic, java-based applet will help you develop your own intuition with respect to desiccant wheel performance.

Application Case Histories
Many visitors are interested in applying desiccant systems to specific building types. Most application guidance must be specific to a particular hardware configuration, and is therefore published by manufacturers. But we've located and listed a few non-commercial reports which describe some of the application issues for desiccant equipment.

Dehumidification and Humidity Control
Desiccants are used to dry air. Visitors interested in desiccant equipment might also be interested in the larger topics of dehumidification and humidity control. Publications in this list may help you understand a few of the engineering issues associated with measuring and controlling the humidity of air, regardless of what type of equipment or system is used to achieve those goals.
